BBA Leadership Change
As you may have seen in the news media over the weekend, BBA President Dalton Smith resigned his position on Friday to create a statewide Ethics Reform organization. I have been asked to serve in the position of Interim President and I have accepted the assignment.
As dues paying members of this organization, please be assured that we will continue the important work already underway at the BBA. Our Blueprint Birmingham strategic plan is nearing completion, with a region-wide roll out event at the Railroad Reservation Park set for September 23. I hope you will make plans to attend the event with us, and that you will be a strong supporter of the Blueprint. It will provide our region with a clear and strategic roadmap to a very bright economic development future for us all.
In addition to finalizing and releasing the new strategic plan, we will continue with a robust schedule of member events. An example is a luncheon for all investors on August 9 at the new Embassy Suites in Hoover. By the end of this month, we will also premier a valuable service that we are calling the "Regional RFP" program. This is a daily electronic feed of potential new business tips for your company. It is a benefit that would cost you more than $2,000 a year to subscribe to independently, but we will provide it to you free, with your investment in the BBA. Look for more details on this as well as other programs and events in separate emails.
So, please know that your support of the BBA is sincerely appreciated and that the work here goes on. If we can be of service to you, I trust you will call.
Barry Copeland
Interim President
