Business Councils
The Birmingham Business Alliance is committed to providing services and programs that help to grow your business. Our business councils offer businesses with similar interests a forum for networking that may ultimately lead to partnerships throughout the region.
African-American Business Council
Organization of African-American BBA investors who meet monthly to network, share business information, and showcase African American owned businesses. All are welcomed to attend meetings and special events of this very active committee. The AABC also offers recommendations to the BBA's Board of Directors. Hispanic Business Council
The Hispanic Business Council's mission is to provide resources for economic development and professional opportunities for Hispanic owned businesses and individuals in the Birmingham area. Membership is open to all BBA investors. The HBC Chair is Vivian Mora of State Farm and the Vice-Chair is Maria Norena of the Minority Health and Research Center at UAB. Birmingham Diversity Summit
The Birmingham Diversity Summit is Alabama’s largest workforce diversity conference. During 2008, the conference hosted more than 50 exhibitors and nearly 500 business professionals, entrepreneurs and experts in the field of diversity. The 2008 theme was, “Be Engaged. Be Enlightened, ” and highlighted the growing need for employers that are competing for talent to have proactive human resource programs. The Birmingham Diversity Summit equips business owners, human resource professionals and others with the ideas, tools and business networks needed for successful workforce diversity initiatives.
Small Business Council
The members of the council are responsible for coordinating seminars that support the growth and development of small business as well as plan Small Business Week -- a celebration of the creativity and energy of entrepreneurs during the second week of May. Small Business Week creates awareness of the significant contributions that small businesses make to our economy. Meetings are scheduled for the fourth Wednesday of each month at the BBA. Committee membership is open to those that desire to promote small business and entrepreneurship and are willing to contribute to the success of the council.
