The Legacy Business Program, spearheaded by the the City of Birmingham in partnership with BBA, is an initiative aimed at recognizing and preserving the valuable establishments that have played a role in shaping Birmingham’s identity. The program certifies businesses that have operated in the city for 25 years or longer and have less than 20 employees. While often small in scale, the businesses are significant in their contributions to the community.

Samford’s Annual Impact Exceeds $453 Million, Significant Importer of Talent
Our region is stronger due to Samford University’s presence and impact in the Greater Birmingham Region. They recently published their annual report, estimating their annual economic and fiscal impact was $453.3 million, 2,635 jobs and $18.2 million in income and sales taxes, including more than $11.5 million in state tax revenues and nearly $6.7 million in local sales taxes.

Steve Ammons named CEO of the Birmingham Business Alliance
Steve Ammons has been named CEO of the Birmingham Business Alliance (BBA), the region’s primary economic development agency. Ammons will be responsible for leading collaboration between BBA and its community partners across the seven-county region to ensure the alignment and achievement of strategic objectives. He will begin his new role on May 30.
