Get Fueled Up! Birmingham Business Alliance’s FuelAL Returns for Summer 2025
Interns experience several challenges every summer – living in a new city, missing the college environment, building new relationships and working eight or more hours a day. It can be challenging for interns to make the most of their professional development during a summer internship, especially if they don’t know where to begin. Employers can also experience challenges when it comes to activating their new, young talent and providing them with a fun, but impactful internship.
That’s why the Birmingham Business Alliance (BBA) is looking forward to hosting FuelAL, in partnership with the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama (EDPA) and Innovate Alabama. This free event series is designed to plug your summer interns into Birmingham’s culture, opportunities and attractions.
The schedule of summer events is as follows:
- Kickoff Social: Wednesday, June 4 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Monday Night Brewing Social Club
- Kickoff Luncheon: Tuesday, June 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Innovation Depot
- Volunteer Day: Monday, June 16 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Community Food Bank of Central Alabama
- Jumpstart Luncheon: Tuesday, July 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Innovation Depot
- Volunteer Day: Friday, July 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Community Food Bank of Central AL
- End-of-Summer Celebration: Thursday, July 24 at 7 p.m. at Regions Field (Available to a limited number of interested interns.)
By giving interns experiences and connections in Birmingham, the BBA hopes to increase the likelihood of them choosing to stay or move here when it comes time to start their careers.
“If we want to keep emerging talent here after graduation, we need to start making meaningful connections with them today,” said Trevor Sutton, BBA’s Vice President of Economic Development. “Birmingham is the perfect place to make a difference while making a living. This program is the perfect opportunity for a summer intern to experience that Birmingham Has More."
All FuelAL events are free for registered interns. We invite you to encourage your summer interns to apply today and join in on a fun summer of professional development, networking and volunteer activities. Deadline to apply is May 31, 2025.
