Alabama Jobs Act
Jobs Credit

The Jobs Credit is a discretionary incentive granted by the Alabama Secretary of Commerce and approved by the Governor. The Jobs Credit is a performance-based program designed to compensate companies that hire Alabama workers and pay them competitive wages. This credit performs as a rebate based on a percentage (up to 3%) of the previous year’s payroll and is available once the project meets a minimum of 50 new jobs. The credit is available for up to 10 years.

Investment Credit

This investment credit is a discretionary incentive that could potentially enable the company to capture back a percentage of its capital investment in the project by offsetting Alabama income tax and/or utility taxes, e.g., electricity, natural gas and telecom. The credit could potentially be granted for a maximum amount of 1.5% yearly for up to 10 years.

Workforce Development Assistance

The State may also provide comprehensive workforce recruitment and training through AIDT. Services include post-employment/on-the-job training; maintenance assessments; safety assistance and training; leadership development; process improvement; and robotics technology. According to Business Facilities, AIDT was recently ranked second in the nation for state workforce development agencies.

Permitting

Each city and county submitting sites for projects commits to fast-tracking all building permits necessary. The number of procedures varies across cities and counties, but the average time is approximately two weeks.
